Vehicles – Abandoned

(Abandoned Motor Vehicle Act, Ch. 683, Texas Transportation Code, Annotated)

A vehicle may be considered abandoned if it located on a public roadway, and:

  1. does not have a valid inspection or registration sticker on it, or
  2. is disabled, dismantled, or inoperable

Abandoned vehicles that have been “tagged” (a ‘Notice of Impound’ sticker is placed on the vehicle) are impounded 48 hours later.
